The 2009 Downham Market Summer Ball
It was held on Saturday 30th May
2009 in Downham Market Town Hall, from 7:30pm until 1:00am.
Downham Market Summer Ball Committee chose
that year due to the current economic climate to change the event to
something a bit more affordable - but still just as much fun!
So in 2009 we held a DISCO -
60's 70's & 80's through the ages...... The
DISCO we held was in conjunction with the Downham Market
Festival Week whose theme was through the ages.
We asked our guests to let their
hair down and dress up in 60's, 70's or 80's costume to give the night that bit
more atmosphere.... but it was not compulsory! And as a way of encouraging our
guests to dress
up we offered a prize to the best dressed! And it worked. Well over 50% of
you dressed up and boogied the night away!
Bex photography was also there to capture your evening.
Catering
Catering was carried out by KJ Catering who served:
A BBQ consisting of a burger, 2 sausages, a piece of
chicken, a roll and butter, green salad, coleslaw and new potatoes. (There was also a vegetarian option available
if pre-booked)
Licensed bar was available on the night.
Entertainment
We
grooved on down all night long to a DISCO by Black Express Roadshow,
who were the DISCO that supported the band at our 2008 Ball.
The Price
Tickets
were just £10 each and were on sale at LEWKS,
Bee's Motors and the Chequers in Wimbotsham.
Fund Raising
On
the night we held a charity raffle. And raised £300 for King's Lynn QEII
Hospital - for their Breast Care Cancer department. Thank you to everyone who helped
towards this great cause.
